Christmas was somewhat eventful for us.
On the 20th December we headed out to the annual foie gras and truffle fair at Rognes. It was bitterly cold and wonderfully seasonal. Within moments of arriving I'd devoured a scrambled egg (seasoned with truffles) baguette and was urging my wife to try some truffle oil. She duly obliged and the rest, well the rest is history.
Over the years Chefs have listed the many miraculous virtues of the truffle, but unlike sex and hot curries they have never been used to my knowledge to encourage a birth. However within moments of tasting the truffle oil, Tanya's waters broke and we rushed to the hospital in Pertuis.
A painful day later our new daughter Sienna Leila Holly Ivey was born weighing just 2.2 kilo. Christmas for Tanya was spent in the hospital. Visitors other than husbands were banned due to swine flu, but on Christmas Day I managed to smuggle in the pictured reindeer.

Congratulations. What a marvelous Christmas surprise.
