The pages of the British tabloid press and La Provence rarely have much in common. A typical UK story might be of a politician caught with his trousers down, whereas the installation of a new speed camera has in the past made the front page of La Provence.
This week though journalists from Provence's finest paper were operating side by side with fleet street hacks. Their target - to dig up dirt on Vanessa Perroncel the Provencal woman at the heart of the sex scandal which has seen John Terry stripped of the English captaincy.
The journalists of course had relative success. The UK hacks are now running with a story that alleges that Vanessa has slept with nearly half of the Chelsea football team. La Provence by contrast has a quote from Vanessa's parents - "it's not true that Vanessa is a money digger. She's never wanted for anything."
What a scoop!
